Churches Doing Good Stuff - A Kairos Calgary Event

Ending Homelessness: The Churches’ role in Calgary’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness.

On February 9th, 2013, Dr. John Rook, President and CEO, Calgary Homeless Foundation; Brad Fischer, Aboriginal Friendship Centre; Richard Mugford, Director of Housing for CUPS, (CUPS oversees community development for Acadia Place); and Geoff Zakaib, Chair of Kairos Calgary Homeless Committee spoke on the churches' role in ending homelessness in Calgary.

2011

Acadia Place Concert
On October 28th, 2011 a concert was held at  Symons Valley United Church. The concert was a great success, the musicians were really entertaining and everyone had a good time.

Canada Day Party

Acadia Place Resource Centre Opens
Acadia Place has a community builder: Natalie St-Denis. On June 17, Natalie St-Denis from house at the Resource Centre. As a Community Outreach Specialist, Natalie offers supportive, confidential counselling and makes referrals to specialists. At the Centre are free programs, such as ESL classes, after school games and crafts, tutoring and special events.

Acadia Spring Fling
On May 14, the CHF, KAIROS Calgary volunteers and tenants came together to do a spring cleaning around the building. The work included painting, cleaning the parking lot, laying mulch, and setting up a community garden!

Acadia Place Project Launch
On March 2, the Acadia Place Project was launched at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour.
